What is SILPURE^®?

     Silpure^® FBR-5 is an aqueous dispersion containing a silver salt that is designed to confer durable antibacterial properties to synthetic and natural textile fabrics, thereby inhibiting the growth of odor-causing bacteria in these treated fabrics.

How does SILPURE^® work?

     Textiles treated with SILPURE will inhibit growth of odor causing bacteria through the controlled release of silver ions. Silver ion is a highly effective anti-bacterial agent because it affects bacteria through multiple paths. It interacts with the bacterial cell wall, interferes with protein metabolism within the cell and complexes with other bio molecules within the cell to alter cell functions.

What effect does SILPURE^® have on finished articles?

     SILPURE is undetectable by sight, smell, or touch. The treatment doesn't change the weight, look, feel, color or breath ability of the fabric. SILPURE protects fabrics from the growth of bacteria, thereby eliminating the odors associated with and generated by them. Clothing treated SILPURE smells fresher for longer.

Why is SILPURE^® treatment safe?

     The anti-microbial properties of silver have been recognized for centuries and silver compounds have a wide range of medical uses. For example, silver nitrate eye drops were used to prevent gonorrheal infection in the eyes of newborn babies. Currently, silver-containing antibacterial skin creams and bandages are used in topical burn therapy to prevent wound infection.

     Fabrics treated at the recommended levels of SILPURE will have silver present at parts per million (ppm) levels. This low level of Silver will pose no problem from either a skin contact or environmental perspective.

What additional care do fabrics with SILPURE^® require?

    None. For best results with SILPURE finished fabrics, follow the manufacturer's care instructions. At Pro Hood we recommend washing the complete suit in a scent free clothes wash in cold water before hunting season and when needed. UV killers and cover sprays will not affect the Nano Silver technology and are safe to use. The garment will maintain it's effectiveness for 50 washings before it falls below optimum performance. Last year I washed my suit 3 times and hunted hard for 3 months. At that rate I'll get 16 years of 100% effectivness. Tumble dry with low heat or line dry.   Store in a scent free bag / container with the rest of your gear.  Works best when worn against skin to kill bacteria on contact for maximum scent control.
